Mall at UTC Cheesecake Factory now hiring for all positions

The Cheesecake Factory is now hiring for general positions, in an effort to get most of its staff in line.

The mega menu and dessert specialist is hiring for the following positions at the Mall at University Town Center:

Dessert/ espresso makers (up to $13 per hour)
Line cooks (earn up to $14 per hour)
Prep cooks (earn up to $13 per hour)
Bussers (earn up to $500 per week)
Bartenders (earn up to $900 per week)
Servers (earn up to $700 per week)
Host (no salary given)
Steward (no salary given)
Dishwasher (no salary given)

The steward position is described as someone who orders the food inventory and communicates with vendors.

Positions available are both full time and part time.

The 7,983-square-foot restaurant will features a 1,239-square-foot patio and is expected to open on the mall's first day, Oct. 16. The mall is expected to create 2,000 jobs for the area.

Mall at University Town Center Macy's Now Hiring

The Macy's inside the Mall at University Town Center is now hiring,in preparation for the mall's Oct. 16 opening.

The first batch of jobs posted over the weekend include 22 positions. More are expected to be posted soon.

Macy's anticipates having a career fair for hiring, likely making an announcement in the coming weeks.

Positions posted so far include evening stockers, retail commission associates, an on-call retail support associate, team leads and jobs in jewelry, bedding, women's shoes, cosmetics and loss prevention.

H&M, Saks Fifth Avenue and other stores are hiring as well, the Herald previously reported. A sample of those job openings can be found on Bradenton.com. CareerSource Suncoast, the region's jobs agency, is also working on a Web page to act as a one-stop place to find available jobs at the mall. About 2,000 full- and part-time jobs are expected to be created from the mall.

The 880,000-square-foot mall includes anchors Dillard's, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue plus Apple, Crate & Barrel along with more than 100 restaurants and stores.

Saks Fifth restaurant Sophie's now hiring for Mall at UTC

Swanky restaurant Sophie's is now hiring for top chefs and management at the Mall at University Town Center in University Park.

Sophie's is the namesake of the 2,600-square-foot dining room at the Saks Fifth Avenue set to open inside the mall on Oct. 16.

Sophie's is operated by Centerplate, which oversees hospitality, team stores and catering services at a wide range of arenas, theaters and stadiums. This will be the only second Sophie's in the world, after Saks opens its first one in the seventh floor of a Saks Fifth in Chicago this year.

Sophie's is hiring for a general manager, assistant general manager, executive chef and executive sous chef so far.

The name salutes American designer Sophie Gimbel, who presided over couture at Saks for more than 40 years. When the world focused on fashion coming from Europe, Gimbal embraced her American style. "I like my wardrobe simple, correct, perfect in every detail," she is quoted as saying.
Sophie's menu and design is modeled after the woman herself: elegant, contemporary, sleek.
The 2,600-square-foot
space will feature an indoor, 60-seat dining room and bar as well as a 60-seat outdoor terrace for dining, lounging and a second bar. The color palette will be centered around black and white with Florida colors incorporated throughout.
Executive Chef Alex Reyes, who is responsible for Sophie's overall culinary direction, will work closely with a chef hired for the Sarasota restaurant. The menu will feature Sophie's signature salads, appetizers and drinks but will skew closer to flavors found in Florida.

Top Bradenton, Manatee Job Success Stories of 2013

The business community turned out Thursday night for the annual Bradenton Area Economic Development update and a night of back patting. There was a lot of well deserved pride in the room.

You've already heard about most of it, too, and probably read the success stories in the Bradenton Herald.

The keynote speaker Jack Uldrich, shown above, gave some simple but powerful advice on business trends: think exponentially. Uldrich, speaking at the event held at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto, specializes in forecasting trends, and gives himself the fancy title of futurist. Essentially, when looking at new and emerging technologies, think about and create adaptive uses for your industry to build disruptive technology. For instance, how to use nanotechnology to charge an electric car in minutes.
